| Squall As a main character, he makes the early, non-speaking ones almost seem chatty. That's because he rather likes being alone, likes the quiet no one gives him, and really doesn't want to talk. |
Laguna For the most part, what you know of this man comes through segments of the game where you flash back in time. He's like a little kid in either frame of time, but the extra seventeen years have added a little maturity to his behavior. |
Quistis She managed to become an instructor at a young age, almost immediately afer becoming a SeeD, but that doesn't stop her from having partiality issues, as you learn by the fact that she is habitually easier for Squall and Seifer to deal with than for anyone else. |
| Zell He's hyperactive, acrobatic, and hot-tempered. His weapon of choice is his own two fists, so while everyone else is disarmed, he's in his element. |
Selphie She's as hyperactive as Zell, but without the temper. It's hard to like her because she'll give you cavities, but its just as hard to dislike her because she's a nice girl. |
Irvine Don Juan had an apprentice, or that's what he'd like you to think. Irvine is the one with the most memories, since he came from Galbadia Garden, where they don't use the Forces as much. |
| Ellone She's Squall's foster sister, and has the gift of sending people she knows into the minds of people she knows, but in the past. Pity none of the events she wants to change can be changed. |
Kiros Laguna's verbose friend, he talks smart, and generally outsmarts himself while he's at it, because of who he's talking to. Laguna just doesn't get it. |
Ward He's easily the biggest person in the game, at least, among the good guys. But he's not a hulking mass of anger. He's just quiet because he damaged his throat in a fall. |
| Seifer If you consider Squall to be ice, then Seifer's fire. Whatever one can do, the other tries to do better, or first. Seifer also has a thing for being the center of attention. |
Edea Otherwise known as Matron, this Sorceress raised a lot of kids until they were old enough to go into SeeD. She helped her husband create the Seed program because she knew she'd gained the power of a malevolent Sorceress, and that it was only a matter of time before she lost her battle of wills with the woman's power. | |
