| As Kingdom Hearts closed, with King Mickey and Riku on the other side, you have to wonder if they're ever coming back out. Apparently though, this didn't eliminate the Heartless, just set back the plans of those leading them. |
| Sora After a year in sleep, his clothes no longer fit, so hes outfitted with a new set that will allow him to combine his strength with that of his allies, calling them drives. As well as getting taller, Sora actually has gotten more mature. Things that he didn't get before, he now understands. This all makes him a richer character in my book, because its nice to see him actually grow up. |
Riku As you found in Chain of Memories, Riku and Mickey do make it out of Kingdom Hearts. But now their path is vastly different from Sora's. So different in fact, that to help his friend out, Riku has to take on the physical appearance of the person who warped him the most. Only Sora and Kairi in their stubborn refusal to let him martyr himself can convince him to not give up just because he looks like the man who called himself Ansem. |
Leon Still quiet, he's now in his hometown for the purpose of the series, which seems to make him friendlier. He acts as one of the main sources of information through the game, as well as being an unexpected source of support when Sora seems like he's going to give up. Not to mention he kicks butt by your side on two occasions, and is one heck of an opponent when teamed with Yuffie, Tifa, and Cloud. Oi. I didn't think I was going to win that fight in one shot, without any items left. |
| Cloud Losing the wing and cape, Cloud now gets to steal Leon's title of most unapproachable. Though he does fight alongside you in one event, he's better known as an adversary in three separate rounds in the tournaments. This time, you do get to see who his "light" is, and why he and Sephiroth are so... animostic. Yeah, and you get to see a replay of the battle in Advent Children if you can beat Sephiroth. |
Auron Hades tries to trick him into the same deal Cloud fell for, but he says no. Then he helps you fight your way back out of the Underworld. He also helps fight in an early tournament. Frankly, as he was my favorite FFX character, I'm just glad to see him at all. |
Mulan By completely retelling the events of the movie she's from, you get another chance to sympathise with her. Seeing Sora realize she IS a girl was funny, and it got funnier when he tried so hard to not slip and call her "Mulan", or "her" in front of her Captain. |
| Axel While he could be viewed as the most treacherous member of Organization XIII, he is also the one who seems closest to human. This is in part because he misses his friend, Roxas, and later recognizes Sora as being the same as Roxas, their status as person and corresponding nobody notwithstanding. This makes it pretty sad in my eyes when he finally fries himself out- if you want to read that as a pun, go ahead. |
