| Sora When his home of Destiny Island is destroyed by the Heartless, he's flung to Traverse Town. In Traverse Town, he learns that he is the wielder of the keyblade and it is his job to seal the hearts of planets before the Heartless can steal them. |
Riku Having grown up with Sora, he probably knows Sora's mindset, habits and abilities better than Sora. As you find later in the game, he's just as qualified to wield a keyblade, but the main one we've seen rather likes Sora, thank you. Riku is adopted- sort of- by Maleficent, who wants to manipulate the Heartless to her own ends, and therefore, is led to believe that Sora has forgotten about him and Kairi. |
Leon Met in Traverse Town as he decides to test the Keyblade wielder. He's kind of gruff, but he's still kind. He just doesn't want that getting around. His home was devoured by the Heartless when the "wise man" of the world started experimenting on the Heartless, and reproducing them. |
| Cloud He shows up in the first tournament, hired by Hades to kill Hercules. First, he has to go through you, which, if you're lucky, he can't. He's really a nice guy, on the lookout for something he calls his "light," but that claw on his hand reminds you of one person, and the wing he has reminds you of someone else. |
Sephiroth The most difficult foe in the tournaments, he has a wing on one shoulder like Cloud, and seeing the wings kind of flipped me out because I'd heard of Sephiroth being called the "One Winged Angel," but I'd never heard anything like that directed at Cloud. | |
