| Tsubasa Waking up from getting beaten up by monsters, Tsubasa doesn't know anything is odd until he realizes he can't log out. And when he's approached by a hidden AI program within the game, and then given all kinds of 'hacks' that make things a lot easier for him since he can't log out, it becomes apparent to others that something is going on. This something is that the hidden AI is a mother program destined to cease existing upon the birth of the child it is gestating. But it doesn't want to die. |
Kite When his best friend is data hacked, and put into a coma, Kite decides to investigate the cause. At first, no one believes that a game could do that to someone, and then he starts getting threatened. By the company that makes the game, by fellow players who mistake him for the cause of the problem, and by the rest of the hidden AI's in the game that want to keep the newly born (from within the programming) child from continuing to exist. As he learns, these events follow a pattern established by the game writer, who modelled it after a story written by the woman he loved, even though she never knew he existed before she died. Kite also learns that the AI child is the child the man wished he could have had with the author of the 'Book of the Twilight' he's modelled the game after. |
